The setting here is in a large forest in a world where darkness has taken over. A large group of people, elves, and other creatures have joined to defeat the evil and bring back the sun. Many species of nocturnal animals have gone evil because they like the darkness. Other animals hunted by these nocturnal animals want the sun back. Some dark creatures are spies on the darkness though, and vice versa for the light. If the traitors are found, they get punished.

Prologue

"Captain, we must hold back! There are too many!"
"No,"
The strong words of the captain sounded from behind a large helmet.
"We must keep fighting."
"But we've already lost too many," the worried voice of the soldier shook with apprehension. "We can't keep fighting like thi-"
"We will keep fighting soldier. Either stick to our Elven ways, or run like a coward."
The soldier fell silent after his captain's words. He had tried too hard to get into this army. He fell back into line where his comrades were standing and resting for the little time they had before the next battle.
As the captain looked out to the horizon, he saw many Dark warriors. They were approaching in very large multitudes.
"Soldiers," the captain lifted his sword and his horse reared.
"This is where it comes down. Either fight for honor, or die fighting."
The entire army was silent.
This is it, thought the captain.
"Charge in!"
The whole army ran down the hillside into to midst of the Dark creatures and began slashing and firing their weapons.

Aqua looked around. She didn't see anything suspicious at her post. She sighed. "Oh, I wish I was home," she looked down and whispered to herself. "But what would I do if I were home? I came here to help my people, but how could I say that to Uncle and Dad?" She looked up at the full moon and sighed again. Why are the stars and moon the only things that can comfort me recently? Can it be Mom?
She looked to her side as a comrade came to her.
"Come on Aqua. They'll get suspicious if we don't get back from watch."
"Coming," She sighed once more.
"Still wanting to get back?"
"It's nothing, Shanti."
The two girls ran back to their enemy’s camp.

Gamin looked up from cleaning his two katana's when he heard his two comrades enter the tent.
"You're late," he commented as his amber gaze switched back to his weapon.
"I was given our next mission while you two were gone. Three days from now we'll be striking Farlow."
Gamin finished cleaning his katana after he said this and slid it back into its sheath, placing it in his lap afterwards. He brushed back his white locks with his hand and leaned forward placing his elbows on his knees.
"What do you think?" he asked looking up at the two from where he sat cross legged on his makeshift bed.

Aqua looked plainly at him with her jet-black eyes. No one could tell, but there was a glint of fear in them. She quickly covered up her fear by taunting Gamin.
"Oh, you must have missed us sooo much while we were gone," she said in a mocking voice.
"Besides, it's not is if we were seeing anybody. Weel aw-ways be your wittle buddies!"
She shook Shanti away as her friend elbowed her in her ribs.

Gamin glared at Aqua.
"I'll take that as an 'okay' then," he answered coldly.
He clicked his tongue at the roof of his mouth and a black wolf entered the tent. The wolf sat next to Gamin and a growl-like voice sounded from his throat.
"You called Master?"
Gamin faced the wolf.
"Yes Shikomi. I need you to deliver this message. Tell the Head of Army that the rest of my team is good to go with the mission and that we will be leaving in the morning to get some training in the fields."
Shikomi bowed his head.
"Right away, Master."
The wolf bounded out of the tent and headed towards the back of the camp.

Aqua watched the black wolf leave the tent. She never could understand how Gamin knew what it was saying. It all sounded like growling and barking to her. She shook her head and turned back to Gamin.
"Okay, so what's this mission about?"
She sat down and started polishing her katana and shuriken.

Gamin didn't reply at once. Instead he propped his weapons against the wall and settled himself onto his bed, clasping his hands behind his head and making it as though he were about to go sleep. After a minute or so he finally replied.
"We're going to assassinate their king...."

Even though Aqua was looking down at her katana, she knew even Gamin could see her eyes get wide.
"Th.... the King!" she choked out.
"How do you suppose we do that?!"
Aqua could feel the unwanted anger welling up inside her.
Not now! Not while he's watching!
She fought with herself, but the anger burst out.
"Do you know what we’re up against?! There are too many guards! How do you suppose we get through the defenses?!
She silently congratulated herself for not letting it slip that the king was her father, but the anger was still burning inside her.
Shanti stepped in to try and cover up Aqua's near mistake.
"I'm sorry Gamin. She has her little fits once in a while. It's not that ba--"
"NO!" Aqua interrupted her friend.
"We can't just be ordered to do that!"

Gamin smiled. He had succeeded in his goal to make Aqua angry.
"Why so mad?" he asked.
"Do you not think that we'll succeed? You know, sometimes you make me think that you have some sort of.....attraction or maybe even an alliance with the light?"
Gamin looked at Aqua through the corner of his eyes, treasuring every moment of this. Suddenly he heard hooves outside the tent, shortly followed by a cloaked woman entering the tent. Shikomi padded in after her and walked over to Gamin, who had lifted himself to his elbows after the woman entered. Shikomi sat down next to Gamin. When Gamin realized who had entered he quickly got to his knees and bowed.
"C-Colonel Anwamane!" he stammered, staring at his hands on the floor. The colonel looked around the tent and finally rested her gaze on the three warriors in the center of the tent. Two were on their knees facing her, but one was standing with her back turned.

Aqua felt as if she was frozen on the spot with her fists clenched to her sides and her face screwed in a death glare. Only after Shanti nudged her leg did she realize her surroundings. She looked around and she felt her face get hot with embarrassment when she noticed the colonel. She quickly dropped to her knees.
